Planted

As part of our collaboration with Planted Cities, we were tasked with creating bug hotel lettering for their exhibition at Kings Cross. The goal was to design a visually appealing signage solution that also served as a habitat for pollinators, aligning with Planted's commitment to promoting environmentally focused brands and businesses. Using responsibly sourced English-grown cedar, we carefully crafted individual letters that could be arranged to spell out the desired message. Each letter also incorporated small cavities for nesting insects, providing valuable shelter and support to local pollinators. The final product was a stunning visual display that effectively communicated the desired message while also making a positive impact on the environment. Our team is proud to have contributed to such a unique and innovative project that promotes sustainability and biodiversity in urban areas.

The design brief for this project is to create reusable signage that also serves as habitats for pollinators. The goal is to create a sustainable and eco-friendly signage solution that aligns with the ethos of Planted - a design-led events and media platform that promotes environmentally focused brands and businesses. The signage should be eye-catching, easy to read and understand, and should effectively communicate the desired message. Additionally, the signage should incorporate features that provide shelter and support to pollinators, such as nectar-rich flowers or small cavities for nesting. The final product should be durable and long-lasting, with materials carefully chosen to minimize their impact on the environment. Overall, the signage design should be visually appealing and innovative, while also making a positive impact on the environment.

"An absolute showstopper"

I wanted to say a huge thank you for supporting our latest Planted Cities event at King's Cross. I know Sam has already been in touch. It was brilliant to have you involved and the Planted insect hotel was an absolute show-stopper.

We used multiple species of timber from a hard Ash for the main board to oak and cedar for the main structure.
